FAQs.
PUMPS
-
Choose your pump size based on its flow rate, i.e. the time it takes to transfer your desired amount of molasses using that pump. Think of it in terms of how long you are prepared to stand around waiting for your cartage tank/mixer to be loaded. 80mm (3”) pumps are our biggest sellers by far. Flow rates are listed in our product catalogue.
-
Yes, some can — our electric and hydraulic models. Please call about pump control and design options.
-
If you treat them right you can expect many years of service. We design our units to be long lasting, durable and handle the elements. Our pumps are 2-pack painted, and steel components are galvanised.
-
No, just check the pump is full of product to ensure internals are not exposed to oxygen.
-
Yes, our pumps come with a 12-month warranty.
TANKS
-
There are a number of things to consider when selecting tanks. Give us a call and we’ll be happy to advise on tank sizes, outlet sizes and orientation.
See our truck load guide to give an indication of how much a tank can hold.
10,200 gallon tanks are by far our biggest sellers. Tanks purchased through Ballard Industrial come with FREE Molasses and/or M8U tank labels.
-
A lot of cartage contractors now refuse to top fill due to safety concerns. We strongly recommend adding a fill point for ease of filling, and to ensure you can find a supplier who’s prepared to fill your tanks.
-
Yes. We look after the whole process, completing order forms and delivery instructions so you don’t have to. We may even save you a buck on your purchase!
Remember, storage tanks purchased through Ballard Industrial come with FREE Molasses and/or M8U tank labels.
-
We regard molasses storage tanks as a form of insurance for dry times. You can buy molasses when prices are low, avoiding supply shortages and inflated costs in times of high demand. Molasses has a long shelf life, and the peace of mind of having molasses on hand will be invaluable.
SMARTFLOW MANIFOLD AND STANDPIPE
-
A standpipe goes hand-in-hand with a molasses pump for a mess-free handling system. With a standpipe in place there’ll be no more dragging heavy hoses around and spreading molasses everywhere. We strongly recommend adding a standpipe to your system.
-
Manifolds are ideal when connecting two or more tanks. They are a safe, neat, mess-free solution for both unloading into tanks and transferring out of tanks, giving the user full control over where the molasses is directed.
-
We will discuss your molasses handling process and requirements as well as access and any existing infrastructure. From this we will design a preliminary layout ensuring correct location of tanks, fill point, manifold, standpipe and pump for your approval. Once confirmed we will build the manifold and send it out to the customer in lengths (80% assembled) along with a basic footing plan for the pump slab and standpipe post. We have designed our SmartFlow manifolds to ensure assembly on site is as quick and easy as possible.
-
Our SmartFlow standpipes are designed with plenty of height to fit large trucks and mixers. They can be raised on the mounting post for additional height if required.
-
Yes, this is a great way to further utilise your standpipe. Ask us about our water addition kits for SmartFlow standpipes.
