How to select the right tanks

Key to how much your molasses tank can hold.
The three largest Nu-Tank molasses storage tanks and their capacities.

We supply Nu-Tank poly products in a full range of sizes.  The diagram above shows the capacities of Nu-Tank’s three largest molasses tanks.

By far our biggest seller is the 10,200 gallon tank, which holds a road train load of molasses with room to spare. Typically we supply two of these tanks with our SmartFlow molasses handling system, which is designed to allow for further tanks to be added as storage needs increase.

What is Nu-Tank?

Rockhampton-based Nu-Tank manufactures molasses storage, cartage and feeding products, along with a wide range of water tanks and other related products.

There are four key reasons we recommend and supply Nu-Tank products to our customers:

1. Brass fittings

The biggest culprit in tank structure failure is fitting split. This is when a hole is cut into your tank to fit a brass fitting, in turn weakening the sides of an otherwise sturdy and durable tank. The cutting of the hole alone will not cause a failure; it is the fitting combined with pressure from the contents of the tank.

2. Poly welded fittings

Nu-Tank eliminates fitting split and weak spots by creating a one-piece tank and fitting structure by poly fusing and welding the fitting into the tank. The fitting is fused inside the wall of the tank and then welded around the outside, making the tank and fitting become one. This eliminates ‘fitting weak spot’ or ‘fitting split’.

3. Thicker walls by 40%

Nu-Tank’s large water and molasses tanks are poly banded. Banding is a process where the rib moulds on top of the sidewall creating an outward rib. The ‘ribs’ mould has an additional 40% thickness. This extra thickness gives the tank strength and makes it longer lasting.

4. Pressure support

The pressure inside a tank builds at its base as the tank fills with water or molasses. Due to the force of gravity, the greatest pressure on the tank walls is at the bottom of the tank. Nu-Tank adds extra resin when building large tanks so there is increased thickness at the bottom. The tanks are thicker where there's the most pressure.
