The BGC Series of gear pumps
The BGC Series of pumps are positive displacement, low-inertia, cast iron gear pumps ideal for pumping heavy material like molasses. They come in a range of sizes from 25mm (1”) up to 80mm (3”) and can be adapted to be driven by:
PTO
Electric motor
Petrol engine
Hydraulic motor
When used for molasses these pumps are fitted with Teflon gland packing to prolong wear. The BGC Series of pumps are covered by a 12-month warranty.
Application
The BGC Series of pumps excel at pumping non-abrasive fluids at low to medium pressures. Their self-lubricating design, minimal moving parts and solid construction make them a tough and reliable pump.
Applications include: molasses, lubricating liquids, diesoline, kerosene, transformer oils, heating oils, tallow, printers’ ink, bitumen emulsions, jelly products, some fertilisers, and paints.
Construction
Casing – Cast Iron
Gears – Cast Iron
Shaft – Mild steel
Bearings – Cast iron
Packing – Teflon
Conditions for use
Maximum ambient temperature: +60oC
Maximum operating temperature: +60oC
Maximum operating pressure: 4 bar
Maximum speed: 700rpm
Maximum speed for molasses: 200rpm
Performance
Performance rates are calculated at heads up to 30m.
Fluids must be clean and free from suspended abrasive particles.
Maximum fluid temperature is +60oC and maximum ambient temperature is
+60oC. The maximum allowable pressure in casing is 4 bar.
See pump performance graphs below for more details on flow rates.
The nominal rotational speed is 400rpm.
When molasses is being pumped, it is recommended the pump speed be
reduced to 200rpm.
Blind plain bearings are self lubricated with the pumped liquid, and the stuffing box has a gland packing to serve as a lubricated bearing.
Pumps can be operated in reverse to change the direction of the pumped fluid.
